Who/what is License Administrator / licenseadmin@mydre.org?
From time to time it is important that the VMs are started to fetch and install updates, or add functionality provided by anDREa.
The anDREa development team uses an account called License Administrator (with username licenseadmin@mydre.org – this is not an email address) to perform administrative tasks in the DRE. It enables anDREa to:”
- Start a VM
- Deallocate the VM
The purpose of starting the VM is that during startup a VM checks if there is something new or important to add to itself. If there is something to be updated, the VM does it during the startup.
The account License Administrator has permission to:
- Start, upgrade, deallocate, and perform maintenance on any VM
- To manage policies on the platform
- To onboard tenants
- To AAD related tasks
The account License
Administrator cannot:
- RDP into a VM
- Access storage accounts
Scripting is used to start and deallocate VMs. It cannot be ruled out that scripts fail, and while anDREa keeps track, it is smart to have auto-shutdown enabled for deallocated VMs; just in case the deallocation script fails for your VM.
As of 18 November 2021, any improvement on myDRE that requires starting the VMs will be put on Announcements (starting 1-2 days before deployment) and (Core) Support Team will be actively informed.”
