Zipping files for quick up-/download
When you want to up- or download a lot of files or whole folder structures at once to/from your workspace, compressing the data into a single file (e.g., zip) is highly recommended. There are a few things you need to take into account when doing this:
- For downloads from a workspace, the files need to be zipped using a virtual machine.
- Standard compression by Windows has a limit of 4 GB. For larger files/datasets, use a program like 7Zip (available in most software installers on virtual machines and installed by default on several virtual machine templates)
- A zip-file is treated as a single file upon up-/download. Once up-/downloaded, the zip-file needs to be unpacked first before the files can be used further.
