Dear Radboudumc DRE workspace owner,
Due to a recent change on the platform, network proxy settings are now enforced on all virtual machines. Because of this, non-standard network traffic that is not supposed to go through the proxy server, such as IP-based external access rules or blob storage, will cease to function. If you are experiencing problems caused by this proxy setting, one of the following solutions might help to solve this.
Solution 1a: Turn off the use of a proxy server
Within a virtual machine, go to Settings >> Network & Internet >> Proxy, and switch off ‘Use a proxy server’.
Solution 1b: Turn off the use of the proxy server for specific services or addresses
This specifically works well when you are using blob storage. Go to Settings >> Network & Internet >> Proxy, and in the box below the proxy server switch fill in the IP-address(es) corresponding to your set external access rules in the mydre portal or other service(s) you need to be able to access separated by a ‘;’. For access to your workspace’s blob storage, fill in ‘; blob.core.windows.net’.
Note: You may need to restart running applications for the changes to take effect. Also, the enforced settings are currently reapplied periodically, which means you will have to redo the steps for solution 1a and 1b several times per day. We were informed today that this reapplication should cease within the next 24 hours.
Solution 2: Request domain-based internet access
If there is a specific website or domain that needs to be whitelisted, you can submit a ticket to whitelist the address via
https://support.mydre.org (log in with your support account, so
not your @mydre.org account; if you do not have a support account yet, you can create one by clicking ‘Sign Up’). The ticket can be found under My tickets >> Add ticket >> Radboudumc >> Request access to webservice(s). Please indicate which service(s) you need, your request will be processed within 1-2 working days. For more information, see
External access in your workspace.
Please inform us about any issues you run into by submitting a ‘Report a bug or issue’ ticket (this will also directly bring these issues under the attention of anDREa, the company that develops the DRE). We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this has caused so far, and we will try to keep you informed about any updates regarding this problem.
