Since domain whitelisting is now available for workspaces, previously mentioned steps for installing MATLAB are not not necessary anymore. The new manual can be found below.

EMC has a central license for MATLAB available for EMC users and it can be installed in a DRE workspace. Every member of the workspace that wants to use MATLAB needs to activate their license.

Installation steps MATLAB for a workspace owner:  

An owner of a DRE workspace is responsible for the installation of MATLAB on the desired VM. Once MATLAB is installed and another member (researcher)  of the workspace wants to use MATLAB on the same VM, the member needs to activate MATLAB with their account. Members can follow the steps described below “Installation MATLAB Researcher”.  


      Preparation before MATLAB can be installed

  1.    

  • -Please submit a ticket on support.mydre.org via My Tickets -> Submit a new support ticket -> Erasmus MC -> Request Domain Whitelisting. To install MATLAB, you need to get the installation file from the Erasmus MC MathWorks Portal. For this, you need to whitelist the following domain: mathworks.com


  • Perform the MATLAB installation  

  • -The installation can get started once it is confirmed that mathworks.com is whitelisted in the workspace.   

  • -Upload this manual in the Files tab to access it during the installation 

  •  

  • -Open the VM when mathworks.com is whitelisted


  • -Please go to Login page Mathworks  via Google Chrome   

  • You will enter your MathWorks landing page. Click on “Download Installer” to start the installation process


  •  -Log in with your DRE account credentials  

  • -Follow the steps of the Installation Wizard (Log in with your MathWorks account)  


Installation steps MATLAB for a researcher:  


Preparation before MATLAB can be installed:  


  • -The owner of the workspace has already performed the installation of MATLAB in the VM  


  • -To be able to use this installation as a member, the license on your MathWorks account     need to be activated. For this, a member will need to temporarily switch their role to owner in the workspace. The owner of the workspace must edit this for the member. After the license is activated, the temporary owner role can be changed back to a member by the owner of the workspace.      


Perform the installation:  

  • -Start the VM 

  • -Open the MATLAB application in the VM  

  • -Log in with your DRE account credentials  

  • -Please click activate license   

  • -Please log in with your MathWorks account  

  • -Your license will be activated and you are able to use MATLAB in the VM as a member 

  • -Please ask the owner to change your role back to the member role
