How to remove the red crosses in the Software Store

Introduction

By default, the icons of applications within the Software Store on the UMCU template will not be visible, instead a red cross will be shown. This is caused by the missing connection to a blob storage that is hosting these icons. To access this blob storage, users should edit the Proxy Settings and add an exception to the list 




Connecting to the Blob Storage

  1. Open the VM.
  2. Navigate to Settings in the startmenu > Network & Internet > Proxy > Manual proxy setup.
  3. Add filerepositoryffwhjmuh.blob.core.windows.net to the exceptions address box.
  4. Make sure the box Don't use the proxy server for local (intranet) adresses is checked.
  5. Do not delete the 169.245.169.245 address: it will make your Z: and I: drive invisible.
  6. Press Save.
  7. Reload the Software Store
