Workaround for connecting to Linux VM's
Update 14 march 2024
We are currently busy implementing Bastion in our organization. Unfortunately, it is not yet possible to start Linux VMs directly via Bastion. Therefore there is short guide created on how you can start a Linux VM via a Windows VM.
Step 1:
Before you can start a Linux VM through a Windows VM, you need to add a Windows VM and a Linux VM.
See the example below. Both VMs, i.e. both the Linux variant and the Windows variant, must have the status 'Running' (meaning you can connect to the VM)
Step 2: Open the Windows VM by clicking on the green button 'Connect'.
Step 3: The RDP file will be downloaded. Soon as it is downloaded on your desktop, open the file.
Step 4: Click on 'Connect' (Verbinden). See the image below as example.
Step 5: Use your credentials for your @mydre.org account to log on in the Windows VM. Click 'Yes' on the next screen.
Step 6: Soon as the Windows VM is opened. Type 'mstsc' in the searchbar in the taskbar. Click on 'Remote Desktop Connection'
Step 7: Type in the next venster the IP address of the Linux VM. In this example, as you can see in step 1, the Linux (Ubuntu) VM has the IP address: 10.3.128.184
Step 8: Click on 'Connect'. In the next window, click 'Yes.
Step 9: Type in your @mydre.org credentials and click 'Ok'.
You are now connected to the Linux VM!
